Supplements For Football Players!

football.jpgFootball is a game which requires strength, speed and endurance. Athletes have to be prepared both mentally and physically to play hard! One of the key (and often overlooked in amateur leagues) aspects to any footballers performance is nutrition. Without the correct nutrition a football player may lack energy, have long recovery times and struggle to add the muscle mass needed.

I’ve made a list of supplements that all football players should consider using if they want to maximize their potential on field. I will name the supplement (not brands, but types) and give my reason for including it in the list.

Supplements for football players:

  1. Multivitamins
The football player must be concerned with getting enough of the vital minerals and nutrients necessary to perform and recover at the highest level. Any deficiencies will result in poor game play or worse. A time-released vitamin product that contains a high amount of vitamin C and b-vitamins, along with choline and octosanol is ideal. Vitamin C will keep the football warrior healthy, and b-vitamins will help maintain the muscle mass necessary to generate speed and to deliver crushing hits on the opposition.
    Recommended products: Animal Pak multi
  2. Whey Protein
Whey protein is the best form of protein you can get! It has all the essential amino acids needed to build lean muscle tissue, is digested faster than any other protein source, has literally no fat, and is lactose and carbohydrate free. Whey protein is essential for muscle growth and if you want to get bigger, stronger and faster you should definitely be taking whey after the game and training sessions, and before bed.
  3. Glutamine
Glutamine’s primary function is to support your immune system. This makes glutamine a must have supplement for the football athlete who’s body is constantly subjected to crushing hit after hit. Glutamine helps the body repair itself and to recover from intense game play. It also helps to elevate growth hormone levels, thus helping to keep the athletes body younger, longer. The stresses to which the football player is subject help to accelerate the aging process. By taking glutamine, the football player can get the edge on the competition by staying younger and competitive.
  4. Creatine
Creatine is extremely popular and has been used by football athletes for many years. Creatine is great for line backers, quarterbacks, running backs, and players in all positions. Creatine can increase total bodyweight, can help to build muscle and can increase endurance. It also increases brain function. This means that creatine helps the athlete to deliver crushing hit after hit, to run farther more easily, and to remember the plays necessary to dominate the competition.
  5. Caffeine
Caffeine is a popular stimulant and is used to provide energy, enhance mental focus and improve athletic performance. Caffeine helps to improve memory, and this will help the football player remember the plays called by the quarterback. You can get caffeine supplements cheap, and one pill before a game or training session can really boost your energy levels.
  6. Meal Replacements
Meal replacements, or weight gainers, should be used in the off season to help build muscle mass. You need to be getting excess calories and big doses of protein and carbs when you’re adding bulk, and these products give you a huge amount of protein, carbs, amino acids and Glutamine in 1 shake.

Time to get out these and be your best. The supplements I recommended above can help you be at your nutritional best to play hard, train hard and recover fast. If you have any questions or comments leave them in the comments field below. Good luck!
