Supplements For Baseball Players!
Question: “I have been playing competitive baseball for around 4 years (I’m a pitcher) now and was wondering what supplements I could take to improve my strength and performance. I am on a limited budget, so nothing too expensive”
Answer: OK, this is a pretty common question, and I’ve had it before. Being a pitcher you’re basically looking to improve strength and explosive performance. This means that you will get a huge benefit from using creatine.
I recommend all baseball players over the age of 17 use creatine. Creatine is an awesome supplement, in increase muscle mass, strength and most importantly, explosive energy. Creatine is your muscles first source for fuel (before glycogen). When your muscle contracts it needs an immediate fuel source, and creatine is the fastest compound that can be converted into energy for the muscle. The more creatine you have available to your muscles the more energy they have, thus the more powerful you can be.
Using creatine with weight training is an excellent way to pack on some pounds of lean muscle and really increase your strength.
Secondly, I recommend baseball players use weight gainer shakes. The reason behind this is that your muscles need fuel to grow, and you need fuel for workouts, training and matches. Weight gain shakes provide you with a big surge of calories from whey protein and complex carbohydrates, as well as glutamine and a whole array of amino acids. If you want to get bigger, faster and stronger you need to give your body the fuel it needs to grow.
And finally, you need a good multivitamin product. I don’t mean some off the supermarket shelf multi, I mean one designed for athletes. Intense training depletes many of the body’s vitamin and mineral stores. This leads to vitamin deficiency. Deficiencies can hamper your growth, training and recovery. Think of a multi vitamin as a silent partner, working in the background to make sure your body is up to the stress you throw at it.
Those are my recommendations for supplements for baseball. If you have any questions post them in the comments below.
